The group focuses on the Arabic language besides other languages.

The Medical Imaging and Image Processing (MIIP) research group is dedicated to advancing the field of medical imaging and refining the characterization of tissue properties to improve diagnostic and interventional precision. Their research encompasses advanced techniques in image segmentation, registration, multi-modal fusion, and

the discovery of imaging biomarkers, utilizing data from CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, and ultrasound modalities.

The Ubiquitous and Visual Computing (UbiComp) group works on extending conventional human-computer interaction paradigms to small computing devices that are wirelessly connected and unobtrusively embedded in objects and environments. Applications domains include security/surveillance, proactive healthcare delivery, and safety and environmental monitoring applications. The activities of the group are based on competencies from a broad spectrum of research areas including wireless sensor networks, embedded systems, computer vision, computer graphics and machine intelligence

The Biomedical Systems Group specializes in leveraging technology to enhance patient care. The group develops innovative methods and systems for acquisition, processing and analysis of multi-modal patient data including electronic health records, diagnostic results, sensor readings, and medical scans. Their projects include embedded image processing for retinal prostheses to advanced systems for retinopathy screening and haptic vision applications.

Quantum Computing

Quantum Computing

The quantum field is now moving from theory into practice with very limited research existing on the practical aspect. Key issues addressed by the Quantum Computing research group include handling noise and coping with a limited number of qubits. Quantum is now changing all aspects of computer systems including data management and communication. With the tremendous processing power of quantum computing, real-world grand challenges like climate change modelling and forecasting can be tackled.
